Sun, Sand and Skin

At the Washington Institute for Laser Dermatologic Surgery, we’re on the cutting edge of the latest advances, so much so that we’re often invited to share our pearls of wisdom with other doctors. This year’s annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology takes place in sunny Miami from March 5th to 9th, and two of our own, Dr. Tina Alster and Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, will be giving lectures on these hot topics.

Laser-assisted hair removal
It seems like there’s always a new at-home laser-assisted hair removal device, and consumers are often left wondering if they are both safe and effective. WIDLS founder Dr. Tina Alster will educate fellow dermatologists about the latest offerings, including the Silk’n SensEpil.

Laser scar revision
Unsightly scarring is problematic for many women and men, whether after an accident or elective surgery. Dr. Tina Alster will speak about her experience performing the latest, most effective treatments for minimizing scars for a variety of skin tones.

Fractionated laser resurfacing
WIDLS was one of the first practices in the country to offer fractional resurfacing, and today it’s one of our most popular treatments for younger, healthier-looking skin.

Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi will discuss the newest technologies, including Fraxel’s repair, Dual and restore as well as Lumenis’ Active FX and Deep FX.

Handling complications of laser surgery
At WIDLS, we often see patients in need of help after they’ve been to other doctors for laser treatments. Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi will share her experience dealing with complications after laser surgery, so other dermatologists can address these problems successfully, and possibly prevent them in the first place.
